Do I really need to organize myself online?

I've always thought of myself as a very organized person..... that is besides loosing my cell phone daily. Internet for Educators is showing me differently. Having to blog weekly and read my classmates blogs can be a bit of a challenge if you do not know some tricks to save time and have everything located right where you need.

I honestly just Googled what RSS stands for. Wiki has told me it stands for Rich Site Summary or if you want Really Simple Syndication. Really simple is right. After adding the app to my webpage I added the blogs of my classmates where is automatically updates me on their blog entries. As well as neatly lists all of their previous work.Subscribing to a website RSS removes the need to constantly manually check a site. Instead of the user having to do the work the browser monitors the site for you.

As for someone like me who is a bit slow with technology, it will save me a great deal of time. Time that I would like to spend enjoying my last few weeks as a university student by sleeping instead of working. Work smarter not harder.

  2. Hi Jaynell,

I had no idea what an RSS was myself until last class. It sure has made coming online and easily accessing each others blogs a lot easier that's for sure.

    Congrats on the wins!

  3. I came late to that class and was a little lost from the get-go. I added everyone's blog to my blogger wall? Is that the right idea? Do I actually need to add an app? It seems like all of my blogs are in one place and easier to navigate. I always feel like I can figure it out later, which I sometimes do- usually in 2-3X the time. Maybe I should get your help, you seem young and hip :)

  4. I am glad that I now know what an RRS feeder is and kind of know how to use it!!! It makes things so much easier knowing that I can see what is new on the different blogs that I am following as well as other sites that I follow!

  5. Speaking as a person who is chronically disorganized, I know well how important it can be to master some tips and tricks to help yourself keep on top of the disorder.

The RSS Feed is an extremely useful thing to master and one could easily set one up for an entire class, or even get senior students potentially to set up their own personal RSS Feed for school purposes. I'd be curious to try something like that as soon as I got my own classroom. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm itching to do some experimentation with technology and social media in a real-life classroom.

  6. I have never been much of an organized person, and am almost always all over the place. Much like yourself, I had no idea what an RSS was or what the letters stood for. I went through this same process last year when I googled 'ICT'. I think staying on track for blogging and posting on blogs is something I need to get better at, but it is quite helpful to have the list of blogs on my page. Something I use often online is symbaloo which helps to organize all of my online websites.
